into the fairfield area. san francisco has now started to see some of the rain. it is coming down. at least moderate rainfall right around a lincoln boulevard and maureen gnaw boulevard and out toward the embarcadero. as you can see, lighter rain around potrero avenue. as we pull out, we do have more moisture working its way toward the bay area. it is going to be coming down during the morning hours. the morning commute does not look good at this point. we are looking at a messy morning ride, and we will see some brief downpours. i will have the exact time you can expect heavy rain in a few minutes. dan? >>> the rain-soaked soil proved to be too unstable to keep this tree upright. sky 7hd shows you the mess it created at central park on el camino real. it shows the massive clean up earlier this evening. one person reported a minor injuries. and you know, there might be one of the water logged trees teetering in your yard. it is a dangerous problem because of the rain. so serious a local removal crew dispatched from hurricane can see rushed back here to help out. cornell bernard is live in one of man

in the morning. here are the rainfall totals. it is more than an inch in san francisco. 1.17 in san rafael. .91 of an inch. .47 in concord and look down south in san jose. .61 and ben loman picking up an inch and a half of rain. i just updated the computer models and i want to show you when the timing of the next storm is and when we are expecting. the storm is different from what i showed you. dan, i will be back with the details. >> i will see you shortly. lots of snow for skiers. avalanche danger is considerable for the sierra. two skiers died in two days at donner ski ranch as the result of avalanches. an expert lists the way you can tell that an avalanche is likely. >> we feel the snowpack collapsing underneath us. if we see the shooking cracks opening up across the surface and nonconsequential terrain. we had a lot of rapid warming and rain on snow. those are all easy things to understand that nature is telling you the snowpack is unstable. >> you really have to pay attention to the surroundings. the snowpack is unstable, but there is a lot of it. a water content is 146% above normal. tha

. as we pan around the east bay 80 and san francisco is now starting to pick up some light rain around the presidio, california street and gary boulevard. much lighter toward the santa cruz mountains. it is almost just over six inches of rain up in the far northern end of sonoma county. rainfall has varied. winds are gusty in a couple of spots up to 50 miles an hour, but not as strong as earlier today. we have scattered thunderstorms in the forecast. heavy rain coming. i'll have the timing of all of this for your holiday weekend in a few minutes. dan? >> thanks very much. the wet weather has been causing problems all over the bay area. alan wang is live in santa rosa with the story there. alan? >> dan, we had a break for awhile, and now we are starting to see the rain pick up a little out here. this is just one of the many flooded areas in sonoma county tonight. there are several washed out roads west of santa rosa. and the public works crews are expecting it to get a lot worse this weekend. joel stopped at the water's edge west of santa rosa and decided to roll the dice. >> came throu
